Ito ang matapang na pahayag ni dating ARMM Governor Zaldy Ampatuan sa kanyang pagharap sa ABS-CBN News sa loob ng kanyang selda sa Bicutan jail.
Puno ng sama ng loob si Zaldy sa kanyang amang si Andal Ampatuan Sr. at kapatid na si Andal Jr. na higit tatlong buwan na raw niyang hindi kinakausap. Sinira daw kasi nito ang kanyang buhay at nadamay pati ang kaniyang pamilya.
"Dahil sa pangyayari, na dahil sa mga insidenteng nangyari na apektado ako, ang aking tungkulin bilang gobernador ang aking pamilya, at maraming taong nasangkot na hindi naman dapat nagyari masama ang loob ko sa kanila," aniya.
Sabi ni Zaldy, dalawang beses nagpulong para planuhin ang masaker noong Nobyembre 2009 kung saan ang kumukumpas umano ay si Andal Jr.
Nakuha daw niya mismo ang impormasyon mula sa isang opisyal ng Maguindanao PNP na nandun sa pulong. Inilahad ito ni Zaldy sa isang pinirmahang affidavit.
Giit ni Zaldy, wala siyang kinalaman sa masaker. May mga testigo rin daw siya at ebidensya na magpapatunay na wala siya sa mga pulong nang planuhin ang masaker.
Inulit niya, nasa Malacañang siya nang maganap ang krimen kung saan 57 ang brutal na pinatay.
Ang kanyang testigo, si dating pangulong Arroyo. Problema lang, nilaglag daw sya ng kanyang dating amo.
"Siguro naghuhugas kamay siya, o meron siyang iniiwasan, siguro ayaw niya madamay sa pangyayari… Naging matapat po akong governor sa kanya at naging maganda naman po kahuit papano yung pamumuno ko during my time," aniya.
Kaya't may hamon siya sa dating pangulo.
"Sana magsalita kayo, yung insidenteng naganap sa Maguindanao nung November 23, 2009. Magkasama ho tayo at mismong pinunta niyo kami," ani Zaldy.
Sabi ni Zaldy, inaasahan na niya na magagalit sa kanya ang ama at kapatid.
"Wala na akong pakielam kung magalit sila sa akin ang importante po dito makasama ko ang pamilya ko dahil wala akong kinalaman, para sa anak ko, para sa asawa ko, para sa nakakarami, na wala anuman kinalaman, ipaglalaban ko ang karapatan ko, hindi pupwedeng magsawalang kibo nalang ako at lahat ng kaso ibabagsak nila sa akin, wala akong kinalaman dito," aniya.
Paraan din daw ito para malinis ang pangalan ng mga matitinong Ampatuan. Tiniyak pa niya, hindi raw siya aatras hanggang marinig ng husgado ang kanyang testimonya.
Si Zaldy ay isa sa 196 akusado na kinasuhan ng multiple murder kaugnay ng Maguindanao massacre pero hindi pa siya nababasahan ng sakdal hanggang ngayon.
Nauna nang hiniling ni Zaldy sa korte na payagan siyang magpagamot dahil sa kanyang sakit na diabetes mellitus at asthma.

Balewala rin umanong tumestigo pa si dating pangulong Gloria Arroyo pabor kay Zaldy, dahil hindi rin naman maisasalba ni Ginang Arroyo si Zaldy sa conspiracy charge.

Quake jolts northeast Japan, no reports of damage

TOKYO, Japan (AP) – A magnitude 7.3 earthquake hit Japan’s northeastern coast Sunday prompting a brief tsunami warning for the area still recovering from a devastating temblor and killer tsunami four months ago.
Residents in coastal areas were warned to evacuate for about two
hours after the quake, but there were no immediate reports of damage.
The quake was recorded at 9:57 local time (0057 GMT), and a tsunami warning was issued for most of the northeastern coastline.
The epicenter of the quake was traced in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Japan’s main island, Honshu, at a depth of about 20 miles (30 kilometers).
No damage has been reported.
Philippine Ambassador to Japan Manolo Lopez, meanwhile, reported that no Filipinos were hurt in the latest earthquake that hit the Japan.
In a television interview, Lopez assured that the Philippine Embassy and the Department of Foreign Affairs stand ready to assist Filipinos in Japan.
The US Geological Survey estimated a magnitude 7 earthquake at a depth of 18 kilometers off the northeastern coast of Japan around 10 a.m.
A tsunami alert was immediately issued. But by noon, the Japan Meteorological Agency lifted the alert after the forecast arrival time of the waves passed in most areas without any tsunami being recorded.
Japanese officials predicted that the quake could generate tsunami of up to 20 inches (50 centimeters), but the initial waves were only about four inches (10 centimeters).
Japan’s Meteorological agency at first estimated the strength of the quake at 7.1, but later revised that to 7.3. It also revised the depth estimate from 10 to 30 kilometers.
Japan’s northeastern coastline was devastated by a powerful earthquake and tsunami on March 11 that left nearly 23,000 dead or missing and touched off a nuclear crisis at a badly damaged power facility in Fukushima.
Officials said there were no reports of abnormalities at the Fukushima plant caused by Sunday’s quake, though workers were instructed to move to higher grounds. Airports in the area remained functioning normally.
Japan is one of the world’s most earthquake-prone countries, where dozens of strong aftershocks have been felt since the March 11 disaster, which measured at magnitude 9.0 and was the strongest in Japanese history.
Sunday’s quake registered four on the Japanese scale of seven – meaning it was felt as moderately strong.
Because of the damage from the March quake and tsunami, however, many buildings in the area are structurally weak and seawalls have been destroyed, making the region more vulnerable to relatively weaker quakes. (With a report from Roy c. Mabasa)

BALUT: HALAL OR HARAM?

Ruling on eating balut (egg containing a dead chick)
Belut is a fertilized duck or chicken egg that contains a nearly-developed embryo. This egg is boiled and eaten in the shell. The prevalent belief here in the
Philippines is that it contains a high level of protein and is good for the
heart. It is sold in the markets and streets of the Philippines. What is the
ruling on eating this kind of egg?.

The description of this egg on some websites is as follows:
Development of the chick usually takes 28 days, but balut is an egg that has been incubated for
only 18 days, during which they get a real embryo with a primitive skeleton.
When the egg reaches the age of 16-20 days, it is ready to be taken to market, where it will be boiled for thousands of customers who enjoy this food.
This depends on the size of the egg. The egg that is 18 days old is the best.
The sellers wash the eggs thoroughly with sponges, then when they are perfectly
clean, they are put in a pot and boiled. End quote.
With regard to the ruling on eating the egg with the embryo that is not fully developed, the ruling
is that it is haraam, because it comes under the heading of eating maytah
(something that has died without being slaughtered properly). Eating maytah is
definitely haraam according to Islam.
The scholars of the Standing Committee for Issuing Fatwas were asked about the ruling on eating this egg and
they ruled that it is haraam.
They were asked:
When we visited the Philippines, we noticed that the people of that country commonly eat a dish
they call balut. This is a chicken egg that is placed in an incubator until it
develops the form of a small chick with all its features. Three days before the
egg is peeled, they cook the egg in water until it is done, then they break the
egg and eat the chick that is inside it.
Please advise us of the ruling on eating this food.
They replied:
If the situation is as described, then the chick is regarded as maytah (something that died without
being properly slaughtered) and it is not permissible to eat it, because it had
taken shape inside the egg, and the prohibition on maytah is something that is
well known and well established in Islam. End quote.
